The Farm edition by Rick Taylor Literature Fiction eBooks

I’ve been following this author closely on wattpad for a few years now. He’s a rather accomplished poet who occasionally spits out a novel or two. His novels—this one no exception—are full of scathing social commentary, political intrigue, corruption by the greedy and powerful, and read like great paranoid conspiracy thrillers. The human drama isn’t backgrounded in any way, but front and center, his characters rich and compelling. The world here that he depicts is an accurate reflection of the darker elements going on in our global commons today. But putting aside all the big picture stuff, this is genuinely one creepy, terrifying story that will probably please fans of horror and thrillers alike. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the black humor that saturates this book from page one, which kept me turning the pages as much as anything else. The author handles dialogue well, along with the scene descriptions, balancing painting a vivid picture with keeping the action and plot moving as much through what is said as what is not said.

The family that is given a vacation getaway deal that sounds too good to be true in a foreign country, slowly realizes things are not as they seem, and their lives are in mortal danger. But who do you turn to when you’re strangers in such a strange land, the culture, the people, the language, everything is so alien to you, and you don’t know who to trust? The journalist that gets drawn into their case, and the political officials, will leave you with a chilling picture of human nature that is as disturbing as it is all too real.

The Farm edition by Rick Taylor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The Farm is Rick Taylor’s first excursion into what he might describe as light entertainment. A serious writer and poet in the literary sense whose works I have ardently followed on line for over two years. He is precise in language when reporting life around him in his poems and stories and is unafraid to deal with the darker side of life and the machinations of people, governments and world orders. His is a name that will certainly become well known in future, a supposition based on the quality of his writing and subject matter.
The Farm is something of a departure for him, writing in what he intended to be a lighter vein. However, he has a produced a work that will thrill and entertain the reader as it progresses through the many twists and mysteries to end on a final, massive twist that will have one asking. ‘However did I not see that?’ Yet the clues are there in the earlier chapters and I will not spoil the finale by divulging the plot of this highly absorbing tale of a family, down on its economic luck, inveigled into a free holiday ultimately for sinister purposes. That’s as much as I wish to say to avoid spoiling the read.
I bought the edition and read it in six and a half hours. Making The Farm the perfect companion on a lengthy travel or a day lazing on a beach. Do try to find time to read it in one session after you buy since I doubt you will want to put it down once you have read the first page.
